ROSE
Both at a halt, now. The Doctor smiling, muses:
THE DOCTOR D’you know like we were saying? about the Earth revolving. (pause) It’s like when you’re a kid, the first time they tell you that the world is turning. And you just can’t believe it, cos everything looks like it’s standing still. (right at her) I can feel it.
He holds her hand. The two of them, joined together; a gradual tilt to the image, the feeling of suppressed power.
THE DOCTOR the turn of the Earth. The ground beneath our feet is spinning at a thousand miles an hour, the entire planet is hurtling round the sun at sixty seven thousand miles an hour, and I can feel it, we’re falling through space, you and me, clinging to the skin of this tiny little world, and if we let go-
He lets go. Back to normal. Rose shaken, steps back.
THE DOCTOR That’s who I am. Now forget me, Rose Tyler. Go home.
He takes the plastic arm off her, turns and walks away. Rose’s POV: a wide beautifully bleak urban landscape, the Doctor walking away, in the general direction of a free standing 8-ft wooden box.
Rose sighs, turns and goes. She turns a corner, heading for the flats, walking but slowly becoming aware of…a distant noise. Getting louder, a heavy, groaning, grinding noise, like ancient engines rising and falling.
A wind springs up around Rose. Newspapers whipped up into a sudden vortex, spinning, vanished.
